Crew Collective & Café Makes Freelancing Fantasies Come True.

In the world of online Cafés, Montreal has a crowning jewel that freelancers are flocking to: Crew Collective & Café. The expansive café occupies the old Royal Bank of Canada and encompasses the entire first floor of the building that resides on an entire city block.

Crew Café is a hybrid that offers a free public space in the form of a Café for patrons to use as a workspace and enjoy the food and beverage offering. Clients can either order at the cafe counter, or skip the line and order directly from their website and wait for their orders to be delivered directly to their table.

At Crew, the mad rush tends to start around 11am up until 2pm. According to President and Co-Founder Alex Ragoussis, the staff are able to handle their lunchtime influx of clients by adding a second Koomi POS station at the cash that helps place orders, as well as help manage their Meeting Rooms and Day Pass bookings.

For Crew management, buying a cloud-based POS solution was a priority from the get-go.

“We are heavily tech-inclined with many of our internal logistics, and having access to the live data available from anywhere is crucial to monitoring your business,”explains Ragoussis.

When it came to choosing a POS, they were looking for something “simple, clean, and efficient”. Word-of-mouth was their primary research tool, and they asked several other Cafés what they were using before they settled on Koomi.

“We appreciate Koomi’s minimalist approach. A simple design will always be more efficient as it remains less cluttered and easier to read. The reports are very well detailed and obviously the Net and tax breakdown are the most useful, and all the others tend to always come in handy,”says Ragoussis.

The Crew Café is constantly updating their menu items and upgrading their service. It’s a more progressive café than most, which is why having an adaptable system with regular updates is important.

“We always look forward to updates made to the platform. It’s like getting new POS each time as you get to test out the new features,”Ragoussis says.

For Ragoussis, there’s always room for improvement when it comes to his business and any company he works with. Koomi is no exception.

“Of course there are a few features we wish our POS had, but what’s great is that the Koomi team never lets us down and are dependable when it comes to hearing us out about what we need and what can be improved.”

When asked if the management at Crew would recommend Koomi for other businesses, the resounding answer from the team was,
